I am a Consultant Educational Psychologist who has been practicing in Singapore since 2012. Prior to this I lived and worked in the UK for 10 years, where I completed my professional training Doctorate in Educational, Child and Adolescent Psychology through the Institute of Education, University of London.
I previously played a pivotal role as part of a multi-professional diagnostic team in the UK, working with children on the Autism Spectrum, children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder/s, as well as children with other complex developmental disorders and learning differences. Since being in Singapore I have been working towards developing a similar style of professional practice in order to support families with children in Singapore and South East Asia to be diagnosed appropriately through the adoption of an holistic, ecosystemic approach, where the child, their interactions in all contexts and with all people are explored by a multi-professional team in order to ensure that diagnosis is appropriate. This is then followed by intervention or school support that can be delivered by trained practitioners within the region.
As part of my day to day role as an Educational Psychologist I offer psychological consultation, advice, psychological assessment and evidence-based interventions to schools, parents and early years settings. As an Educational Psychologist my case load is variable, working with pre-school, primary school and secondary school aged children with a range of needs. I also provide training and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to universities and schools in Singapore as well as professional supervision to Masters and Doctoral level Psychologists. I believe in a solution focused approach to practice, where the focus is not on the ‘problem’ but rather on the exploration of the child’s strengths and specific learning styles.
